This morning we were able to snag a tour of the Castello di Amoroso, a winery inside a castle. The castle was built by Dario Sattui, starting construction in 1993 and ending in 2007. The materials for the castle, many of them antiques shipped over from Italy, Austria, and other European countries, cost 40 million. It was really neat!
This is the white wine fermentation room.

They have a very extensive tunnel system.
The temperatures underground are perfect for aging wine, which is exactly what they do in the tunnels.
They even have an armory!
And a torture room! Dude, it’s an iron maiden! Excellent!
This is the “hot seat.” You get strapped in and then they light a fire underneath. Those spikes then get really hot, hence the name “hot seat.”
They had farm animals too!
Animals including geese, sheep, chickens, turkeys, goats, and emus.
After the castle, Marty, Eddie, and Charlie hung out at the hotel while Mom and Dad went to a few other wineries.
This is the Chateau Montelena. They also went to the Hope Valley Winery.
We had some fried chicken at the hotel for dinner.
