Lousiville/Jeffersonville, Kentucky (TEA Day 3)

This morning we went to the Frazier Museum in downtown Louisville. We met up with Mrs. Fran, Mom’s friend, to see the museum.
This is a gun shield. You could shoot a gun through the pointy part on the shield.


This one is me playing hide-and-seek.


Here’s a big buffalo. It was really big. It was a model of a buffalo.


This room was the flag room. It had a ton of American flags in it.


Here I am with Eddie looking at the bow. You could pull it back and try to get the dead on.


My favorite part was the cannons at the entrance. Above is a picture of us with Mrs. Fran standing by one of the cannons.

After the museum we went and ate lunch at the Red Yeti bar in Jeffersonville, Indiana. I had a burger. It was tasty, but it was enormous. Marty had to finish it for me.

Next we went to this really cool store, which was basically Party City but called Horner Novelty. We especially liked the sombreros.

Next we went to Shimpff’s Candy Store, where we saw the world’s largest gummi bear. We also got some chocolate covered pretzels there.

Then we saw the world’s largest baseball bat.

After we returned from our excursions with Mrs. Fran, we went to the in-hotel swimming pool. Charlie was super excited for it.

 

Excellent!

 

After that, we went to have a very yummy dinner at Mrs. Fran’s house. Thanks for the hospitality Mrs. Fran!

Louisville, Kentucky (TEA Day 2)

Marty

This morning I went running, then we left Lexington for the bourbon distillery.

We saw horses in Lexington! Yay!

 

Who knew there’d be a castle in Kentucky?

 

Here’s the bourbon distillery we went to. Woodford Reserve. We took a tour of the bourbon producing process. Apparently 95% of the bourbon in the entire world is produced within an 80-mile radius here in Kentucky.

 

Here’s one of the fermentation vats. In them, the yeast breaks down the grain, producing heat, carbon dioxide, and of course, alcohol.

I really liked the smell on the tour.

 

Here’s Eddie by the copper stills. They increase the alcohol content to 110 proof.

They had a barrel run from the room where it was barreled to the storages. The barrels will just roll down the run, and because of their shape they will never come off.

 

Here’s the aging room. The bourbon is stored here for 6-8 years until it has the perfect taste.

After the distillery, we headed to Louisville.

We went to downtown Louisville and we found this cool place that had some falling letters on a screen. We could hold them and I held the M on my head.

We also went to an ice cream shop, but it closed at 5:00. We were there at 4:00 though. I had vanilla bean ice cream, Mom had black raspberry, Marty had black cherry, Eddie had mint chocolate trip, and Tricia had vanilla bean, the same as me.

The river was fun, and it was interesting too. We saw a boat. It was a big steamboat.

After we saw the big ferryboat, we crossed the Ohio River into Indiana.

I’m not the only one who’s sad because of the litter!

Our hotel room was really nice. I like the swivel chair.

Lexington, Kentucky (TEA Day 1)

Goodbye house! We’re leaving on our trip!

Car stuff. Yay! We’ll be seeing a lot of this car.

Today we drove to Lexington, Kentucky. It was an 8-hour, 550 mile drive.

Beautiful drive though.
