Bandelier National Monument was named for the Swiss anthropologist who sponsored the preservation of the land. It is about 33,000 acres. We visited a section with a Pueblo village. It was really interesting and beautiful.
We got to climb inside some of them!
Most of the caves were small, but there were a couple large ones.
The cliffs are made of volcanic tuff from a massive volcanic eruption in the past. Tuff is very soft, and erodes easily, which causes caves and pockets to form.
Back at the hotel, we went swimming. Charlie was super excited. Can you tell that he loves swimming?
